About Agriculture Jobs in Maine
We feature the best agriculture jobs in Maine with new jobs being posted weekly.
Agriculture and natural resources play an important role in Maine’s economy. Livestock products, such as brown eggs and milk, generate the majority of agricultural income. The state leads the nation in wild blueberry production and ranks second in maple syrup, but potatoes lead the way as the largest crop growing in the state’s rich soil.
The aquaculture industry also thrives thanks to the state’s 5,300 miles of clean water coastline and abundance of fresh water, the most of any state east of the Mississippi River. Farmers raise salmon, trout, bait fish, scallops, clams and more in nearly 190 marine farms, six marine hatcheries and 18 freshwater hatcheries.
There is a strong sustainable farming community alive in Pine Tree state, and many farmers are involved in sustainable farming methods. There is also a diverse community of organic farmers.
