Job description

The 4-H Livestock Coordinator helps to plan, implement, and evaluate a progressive series of educational programs and experiences that work toward multiple life skill outcomes such as leadership, citizenship, communications, personal life management and knowledge.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and participate in livestock validations, livestock shows, judging contests, public speaking, and educational presentations.
  • Manage deadlines and entry dates for livestock shows around Texas.
  • Prepare livestock validation forms accurately and on time.
  • This position promotes 4-H in Harris County, creates and distributes marketing materials to promote 4-H.
  • Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
  • Supports 4-H and Youth Development program in Harris County and assists with implementation of 4-H action plans, 4-H workshops, after school activities, youth mentoring, summer camps, day camps and other activities.
  • Communicates effectively with members, families, volunteers, and other staff.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and support of new and existing 4-H members and families.
  • Collaborate with county office staff in support of AgriLife programming in Harris County.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with educational programs or working with livestock.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Speaking/teaching/education experience.
  • Working with diverse audiences.
  • Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communications skills.
Licensure:
  • Valid driver’s license (Texas by hire date) and a safe driving record.

General Information
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
  • 40 hours per week | Monday – Friday
  • Flexible Schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 pay periods
