Overview:
Antique Rose Emporium, a family-owned legacy business rooted in sustainability and generational excellence, is seeking a high-caliber Agricultural Field Crew Leader. This pivotal role involves managing the care and cultivation of our rose fields and field crops with a commitment to preserving old garden roses. Working closely with the Production Manager and playing a central role in our renowned breeding program, collaborate with industry experts, and implement forward-thinking practices to enhance our agricultural operations. This position is ideal for someone dedicated to long-term impact and the sustainability of a beloved heritage business.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Cultivation Management
Oversee and execute daily operations across rose fields and field crops, implementing advanced horticultural practices that align with our high standards of care and sustainability.
Quality Control
Regularly inspect plants for quality and health, identify and address potential issues related to plant quality, such as nutrient deficiencies, disease outbreaks, or environmental stress. Implement quality control procedures to ensure consistent plant quality throughout the production cycle.
Strategic Coordination with Production and Shipping
Collaborate with the Production Manager and shipping team to streamline processes and ensure orders are prepared on time, meeting our standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
Research & Breeding Program Leadership
Play an integral role in our breeding program, working alongside industry leaders to develop and preserve unique rose varieties. Lead research efforts and pilot innovative techniques for the breeding and resilience of old garden roses.
Field Crew Development & Leadership
Lead the field crew with integrity, fostering a collaborative culture of respect, accountability, and continuous learning. Provide training and mentorship in best practices for crop care, sustainable agriculture, and heritage rose cultivation.
Sustainable Practices & Environmental Stewardship
Conduct regular inspections of field conditions and equipment, implementing regenerative agriculture techniques such as soil health management, crop rotation, and water conservation to ensure the long-term sustainability of our growing fields.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Utilize data analysis to drive decisions on field management, pest control, and resource allocation, documenting results and sharing insights with leadership to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
Proven expertise in agriculture, with a background in horticulture, nursery crop (growing), rose cultivation,
or similar field highly required, degree preferred.
Passionate commitment to the preservation and sustainability of old garden roses. Extensive knowledge of plant propagation, cultivation practices, and pest management strategies
Demonstrated involvement in breeding or R&D in horticulture preferred.
Strong leadership skills and dedication to fostering a respectful, supportive work environment with a focus on collaboration and honor.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
50-60 hour work weeks – straight pay
Weekend work on rotational basis required based on seasonal needs.
High level of organization and efficiency, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and make impactful, data-driven decisions.
Experience working across departments to support strategic objectives in production, shipping, and operations.
