Position Title

Agriculture and Natural Resource Agent I, II, or III

Job Summary

The agent will oversee all of the duties of providing direct assistance to county clientele in all of the counties within the service region of Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension Program (TUCEP) designated for programming in Sustainable Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation, and Food Systems Safety and Youth Development related to this area. Additionally, this position will assist other agents/resource specialists/interns in planning, implementing, and reporting their activities for TUCEP. This position is essential to the alignment of all programs delivered in all 20+ counties served are aligned with accepted USDA outputs and outcomes, as well as other USDA designated regulations. Counties of responsibility will be assigned by the District Agent and the extension Administrator.
This position is located at the Dallas County Extension and Outreach offices.

Essential Job Duties

Develop and prepare plans of work based on Tuskegee University Cooperative Extension Program Plan of Work in Food Systems and Safety, Food Security, Environmental Sustainability, Natural Resource Conservation and Climate Change
Assist in planning, monitoring, and evaluation of extension and related programs in Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Conservation
Prepare timely staff reports as required
Establish and maintain a local Extension Advisory Council
Participate in in-service training, formula course work and short courses
Publicize on-going educational and public relations programs to inform organizations, agencies, and the general public of programs and activities
Provide leadership directly to clientele by contacts, other agents, faculty, and agencies
Work closely with family, home, and consumer science agents to build comprehensive programming in assigned counties
Meet the community needs related to diverse audiences
Develops and conducts relevant interdisciplinary programs with faculty/staff members based on critical issues, conducts promotional efforts to expand the public’s knowledge of extension programs
Utilize current Tuskegee University’s research data and information on emerging issues in community development in and supporting civic/community activities organizations and networking with community leaders
Serves on TUCEP committees for ExERT, BTW Summitt, TAPS, and/or Farmers Conference
Performs other duties as assigned by the Extension Administrator or District Agent

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)

Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, natural resources or closely related field
Noted related experience
Master’s degree in agriculture, natural resources or closed related field is preferred

Physical Demands

Ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to walk short distances
Ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items
Ability to prepare and analyzing data and figures
Ability to view a computer terminal; extensive reading
Ability to lift at least 10 pounds
