Colby Community College is located in northwest Kansas, approximately 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. From a humble beginning of 99 students in 1964, CCC now serves more than 2,200 students annually.
In addition to a 57-acre main campus, a 60-acre farm is used as a hands-on laboratory and training facility with a 35-head cow herd of Sim-Angus registered and commercial cows. The College also accommodates hundreds of off-campus students through face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses. A number of studies conclude CCC is a solid educational investment. Colby has a strong history of student performance and ranks near the top for graduation and retention rates among Kansas community colleges.
Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available to join a progressive Agriculture Division in northwest Kansas at Colby Community College as a Full Time Agriculture Business and Economics Instructor. The faculty will actively engage in education to complement the current degree programs in the agriculture department. Duties include: (1) Developing, teaching, and assessing courses that directly relate to Agriculture Business and Agriculture Economics in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities. (2) Identify resource needs and opportunities with other faculty to help guide program outcomes, structure, and development. (3) Encourage and maintain community partnerships that support the Agriculture Division. (4) Maintain relationships, partnerships, and articulation agreements with transfer institutions. (5) Participate in functions and activities that promote the College, the Agriculture Division, and the Agriculture Department. (6) Advise and mentor students to meet the demands of an ever-changing agriculture industry and equip students to meet these demands.
This is a Full Time, nine-month position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to teach courses in Agriculture Business and Economics in face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning modalities.
Awareness of diverse agriculture industries and their roles within the US and internationally.
Familiarity with agriculture-related public policy and varying business opportunities.
Knowledge of computer software for managing data and budgets.
Courses required for teaching and/or development (not limited to): Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Marketing, Agriculture Finance, Farm Records, Agriculture Law, Agriculture Communication, and Computers in Agriculture.
Other courses may be taught to complement other agriculture degree programs.
Ability to work with a broad spectrum of student abilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment, with shared responsibilities and mutually agreed-upon objectives.

TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE

JOB DUTIES/PERCENTAGE OF TIME
70% – Develop and facilitate learning in courses that directly relate to agriculture business 10% – Student advising and engagement activities 10% – College service; including committee work, shared governance, and contributing to the institution 5% – Professional Development 5% – Curriculum review and development, assessment of student learning at the course, program, and institutional level.
SALARY $39,000 or higher, depending on credentials and experience.

Qualifications
Masters degree or higher in an academic discipline focused toward Agriculture Business and/or Agriculture Economics, or related area, or a Masters degree with 18 graduate level credits in Agriculture Business and/or Agriculture Economics.
