POSITION SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is the instruction and supervision of a diverse group of students keeping within the law, board policies, and administrative regulations. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and developmental level of the individual student. Instruction and supervision include student guidance, classroom management, and knowledge in subject areas taught through District and state standards. This is demonstrated by appropriate curriculum design, instructional practices, and student progress assessment.
Our program specializes in plant/crop science, animal science, leadership, and veterinarian science. Our program facilities include a 40′ x 75′ shop space, a 35′ x 65′ greenhouse, and a brand new 26 acre school farm currently in development that will eventually house working crop production areas, a livestock facility, and mobile classroom. Our equipment includes an 8″ x 10″ walk-in cooler, a floral cooler, cutting table and meat processing equipment, ultrasound machine, as well as John Deere and Mahindra tractors.
The FFA program has a supportive and active alumni chapter that helps the students attend state & national conventions, field days, and other activities. Our students take livestock projects to the fair.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide students career pathway information regarding agriculture, food, and natural resources as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment.
- Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction by helping lead the FFA chapter.
- Inform students about agriculture and agricultural literacy.
- Work collaboratively with staff, students, families and the community to promote FFA and recruit middle school students.
- Engage with and support our students during the summer county fair.
- Collaboratively work with our current CTE teachers.
- Keep the safety and welfare of students above all other considerations.
- Assume responsibility for accompanying all assigned students on field trips or other off campus visits.
- Maintains a safe and organized classroom environment.
- Follow proper procedures when purchasing school items.
- Remain current in professional growth and inservice training.
- Assess students’ knowledge and skills, maintain appropropriate student records.
- Assumes other duties that may be assigned by the Principal or designee.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree aligned to position.
- Valid TSPC endorsements, or ability to obtain such, OR
- Career & Technical Education endorsement in Agriculture, or 2000 hours of industry experience to apply towards attaining a CTE endorsement.
- Demonstrated ability to relate positively with students, teachers, administrators, employers, parents, and the community
- Demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for employment in manufacturing occupations.
- Have standards of moral character as required of all Oregon licensed educators (OAR 584-005-0005).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters of Arts in Teaching.
- Masters Degree aligned to position.
- 3 years of experience teaching aligned to position in a public school setting.
- Possess and maintain a valid First Aid Card
- Bilingual Spanish.
COMPENSATION
- 190-day contract
- Family medical, dental and vision insurance
- Salary: $45,724-$92,239 (2024-25 TBD)
- Sick leave and Personal/Emergency leave
- JCSD 509-J pays the employee’s share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution
