Primary Purpose:
The teacher will be responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in agriculture. The teacher will also prepare students to develop the competencies and skills required to earn various industry-based certifications. Important job functions include teaching the curriculum and managing student behavior/safety within classroom/shop settings. In addition, the teacher will serve as an active FFA Advisor for their assigned chapter.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned (Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources preferred)
Must have a valid Texas Drivers License and be able to drive district vehicles and haul trailers.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of commercial power tools and non-commercial power tools (drill, jigsaw, router, circular saw, etc.)
Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, business partners, and others in the community.
Ability to create and manage interactive, innovative, hands-on projects for student engagement and effectively teach and work with high school students.
Have a working knowledge of the objectives and TEKS of courses in the program.
Experience: Preferred
Experience in the Agriculture industry and FFA organization.
Salary: Teacher / 215 days
