Reporting to the manager of the CFAES Jackson Agricultural Research Station, the Animal Herd Coordinator (Farm Coordinator 4) coordinates operations for beef cattle and sheep production in support of the research and extension projects; manages animal operations to provides daily animal care and welfare, including animal health care; provides oversight to feeding, forage production, rotational grazing and pasture management to meet research objectives; assists with implementation of research in coordination with supervisor, faculty and staff according to project protocols; collects data and samples and keeps operations records; communicates observations that may affect research outcomes to supervisor and investigators; assists with supporting events, field days and extension programs; operates, adjusts and repairs farm machinery; assists with harvesting hay and handling/spreading animal manure; installs and repairs fences; maintains/repairs animal facilities and grounds; periodically works an adjusted schedule including weekends and holidays; position is located Jackson, OH.
Minimum Education Require: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences or equivalent.
Required Experience: Experience in coordinating beef cattle and sheep operations, breeding and disease control in a research environment; experience in forage harvesting practices and rotational grazing; skilled in operation of computer based software including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers; ability to operate, repair and maintain farm machinery; experience with farm equipment operation on sloping land.
