Job Description
Assists the manager in the supervision of the entire or portions of the operation of a retail cooperative or service.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
1. Directs record keeping and inventory control.
2. Directs the work of warehouse personnel, sales people, deliveryman and employees assigned to special services.
3. Performs fill-in jobs for all employees such as counter, bookkeeper and warehouseman.
4. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with reference to ordering quantities and types of merchandise inventory.
5. Performs other management or administrative duties as the day to day operations require, including filling in for the manager when he/she is absent.
6. Advises customers and other employees with respect to technical commodity needs of particular customers and handles customer’s complaints.
7. Develops advertising, follows and enforces corporate standards and programs that conform to policy guidelines and budget requirements.
8. Engages regularly in making sales or taking orders for services during visits to customer’s farms and in store.
9. Ensures that employees comply with all safety, governmental and environmental regulations which include the Southern States No Tolerance Policy.
10. Attends required meetings to keep up to date with company policies and product training schools
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Ø Four-year college degree, preferably in Agriculture or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
Ø Selling skills required
Ø Work experience and training in retail management and sales
Requires physical strength and dexterity to walk , stand, bend, climb, reach, stoop, twist and lift /carry 100 pounds. Vision, hearing and speech essential. Hand coordination to use computer. May require a valid drivers license. Job requires contact with hazardous materials and drive/travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
