Steadfast Acres is a certified organic vegetable farm. We are primarily a CSA farm and as such grow a huge variety of vegetables for those farm shares. We also market to our local farmers market as well as restaurants. Our average production is roughly 4 acres in vegetables plus four high tunnels and soon to be two greenhouses. For the 2023 season we have a new position for the right candidate to step into an Assistant Farm Manager role.
All staff are expected to be able to develop skills and work in a variety of areas of the farm. Greenhouse production of transplants, field planting, weeding, harvesting, washing & quality control of products. As well as repair, and building of infrastructure. We work rain or shine, and holidays. We love our farm and what we have built from largely a blank slate and look forward to sharing it with an aspiring farmer.
Responsibilities
- Day to day farm staff & worker-share management
- Participation in all staff training
- Maintain quality standards in both field & post harvest
- Directing field operations, cultivation, irrigation, transplanting & harvest
- Maintaining daily harvest logs
- Assist with organic production record keeping / logs
- Basic tool and equipment maintenance
- Keep a clean & orderly work environment
- Post harvest handling & Order fulfillment
- Assist with soil fertility and preparation
- Greenhouse plant propagation & care.
- Daily hoop-house management, weeding, irrigation, transplanting
- Depending on skill and interest: soil fertility, irrigation, pest & disease and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with local deliveries
Qualifications
- Three years market farming experience. (preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with ability to work inside structured processes
- Ability to work with a team and independently
- Work in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 40-50lbs repeatedly.
- Knowledge of basic tools, machinery operations / maintenance
- Organizational and record keeping skills
- A sense of humor.
- Clean drivers license
Additional details
Position starts first week of March with the first greenhouse seeding, and ends third week of November. Work beyond this point is variable and depends on the season. March and April tend to be part time as well as November work.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour
