Job Summary:
The Assistant Livestock Manager will assist in the operation of ranches, grazing permits, or other agricultural properties and facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Levels I through III: May review, mentor, and oversee the work of other Ranch Hands and Laborers
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists with the execution of ranch operations plan, including cattle management, grazing management, maintenance, and animal health & welfare
- Assists with the repair or maintenance activities of ranch structures, such as buildings, fences, or roads, as needed
- Monitors pasture and grazing land use to ensure that livestock are properly fed and that grazing permit stipulations are met
- Assists with the construction of ranch structures such as buildings, fences, drainage systems, wells, or roads
- Assists with and performs farm or ranch equipment maintenance activities as needed
- Follows working techniques, practices, and safety regulations
- Monitors and adjusts irrigation systems to distribute water according to crop needs
- Assists with crop production operations such as hay harvest
