Contours Landscape Solution is seeking an experienced individual to assist with starting up our new retail plant nursery location. We are looking for a candidate who provides exemplary leadership on the sales floor with emphasis on customer service, plant and material product sales and over-all retail store operations. Assistant Manager will perform whatever task is necessary to ensure the stores success and will report directly to ownership.

Requirements:
Must have a strong knowledge of different plant material, irrigation and landscape products and practices.
High School or secondary diploma or equivalent required.
Degree in Horticulture / Business Management discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
Must have P&L experience.
4 or more years of managerial experience including leadership, issue resolution, motivation and team building preferred.
4+ years of experience managing a plant nursery operations or retail sales store preferred.
Excellent communication, customer service and leadership skills.
Understand sales and operations planning process, statistical demand forecasting and integration of demand plans and supply plans.
Understanding of accounting fundamentals, such as debits, credits, accounts receivable/payable and budgets.
Understanding of managing product inventory.
Assist with ordering plant and nursery merchandise under direction of management. Maintain appropriate inventory control and building stock in anticipation of peak seasons and reducing it during slow seasons (esp., winter).
Responsible for merchandising and overseeing housekeeping of the nursery, plant areas and property maintenance.
Overseeing proper plant care to maintain the customer perception of high quality, professional product while minimizing waste.
Keeps up-to-date on the latest nursery merchandise.
Prepares appropriately for the start of each season, for the peak of each season, for different holidays such as: Mothers Day (e.g., hanging baskets), and for Christmas (e.g., poinsettias).
Follows the general guidelines discussed in the Spring Plants booklet and the Fall Plants booklet.
Always projects a professional, positive, enthusiastic attitude.
Availability to works on Saturdays or Sundays.
Works extra hours as needed during the peak Spring season including Sundays.
Responsible to see that nursery is appropriately staffed with trained people. Staffing should be at peak during peak seasons, (i.e. spring and fall) and especially on those weekends. Conversely, staffing should be minimized during the off season. Hiring seasonal help is one strategy that should be employed.
Coordinates scheduling of nursery personnel with the Store Manager or ownership.
Sees that customers are well served and that all staff is productive and completing the proper tasks efficiently on a daily basis.
Conducts training and regular meetings for nursery associates.
Cross-trains other store personnel on plants and nursery items.
Freely consults and shares ideas with others.
Spends 90% of the day outside, exposed to various weather conditions. Must always dress appropriately for the weather and the work tasks.
Works the store floor in the off season as needed.
Oversees or assists in Christmas set up/maintenance as determined by the Management.
Attends Nursery Trade Shows and/or meetings.

Note: Experience in horticulture or a related field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
