Responsibilities include assisting in total operation of a 4000 DN sow farm to wean, including to meet or exceed genetic improvement targets as outlined by management, training/developing employees, implementing corporate personnel/procedural policies including but not limited to EMS, SIPS, animal care, BMS, controlling operating costs, providing an overall quality product to the farms customers.
Core Responsibilities:

Maintains the highest levels of bio-security at all times.
Responsible for effectively implementing and improving programs such as Animal Care, SIPS, EMS, BMS, etc., in the operation.
Maintains high quality production at sow farm to help good breeding stock replacement to Multiplication sow farms (including self-replacement).
Drives genetic improvement and manage genetic components including but not limited to single-sire mating of appropriate animals, maintaining proper internal replacement rates, as well as proper selection of replacement gilts and cull animals based on genetic indexes
Manages all activities/processes related to farm management and operations.
Schedules/performs according to all standard procedures and policies set out by company technical manuals.
Implements safety policy/procedures. Ensures actions are being taken to lower accident rates and injuries.
Ensures that the farm-working environment is safe, by providing safety equipment, training, an actions to prevent hazardous conditions by meeting DOL/OSHA rules and regulations.
Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Foods subscribes.
Develops subordinates by leading, planning (short and long term), managing, coaching, mentoring and providing a positive professional image at all times.
Maintenance upkeep of facilities and grounds.
Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Certified in Breeding and Farrowing
1+ years of supervisory experience with a preference in farm management experience, required.
Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Proven record of past good production performance and BMS audit scores.
Ability to create a team atmosphere
Excellent communication skills
Organizational ability
Maintenance to Maintain facilities
Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
