Plant Disease Control Associate Scientist
What Youll Do:
As a Plant Disease Control Associate Scientist, you will serve Oerth Bio as an innovative, inquisitive, and motivated bench scientist with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Your focus will be to maintain Oerth Bios microbial collection, evaluate PROTAC efficacy in plant pathogenic fungi, and investigate compound bioavailability in vivo. This position requires the ability to flourish in a fast paced, fluid, and collaborative ag-tech environment.
Who You Are/What You Have:
You have a B.S. +2 years of experience OR M.S. +1 year of experience OR a Ph.D. in Phytopathology, Mycology, or a related discipline.
Ag Biotech industry experience is preferred.
You have fungal cell culture and inoculum preparation experience.
You have experience with plant cultivation and establishing fungal growth on relevant host plant species in greenhouse environments.
Experience evaluating fungal growth in the presence of crop protection chemicals is a plus.
Familiarity with small molecule detection methods (e.g. LC-MS) is desirable.
You are experienced with data analysis and interpretation using Excel, Prism, JMP, R, or similar software.
You enjoy creating and validating new assays and improving existing protocols.
You have experience navigating relevant governmental regulations and compliance.
You can easily collaborate with other groups within the organization as needed.
You effectively manage multiple priorities and deliverables within an entrepreneurial work setting to meet aggressive deadlines.
You are a motivated and organized critical thinker with solid interpersonal and business communication skills.
You are able to independently travel and work daily in either the lab in Raleigh, NC or main office in Durham, NC.

Additional research is conducted at the North Carolina State University (NCSU) Plant Sciences Building, a state-of-the-art biotechnology facility on NCSUs Centennial Campus. The individual in this position will spend a majority of their time at the NCSU location and will report to the Scientist, Disease Control.
