Seasonal Barn Manager in Baker, LA
Job Description
Overview
The Barn Manager is responsible for the overall management of all barn related business activities to include boarding services, trail rides, and special events. Responsible for the management of all barn staff to include feeders, ranch hand and maintenance personnel. Required to gather and maintain all equine boarding documents and records as required by the state of Louisiana for equine boarding facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruit, train and develop barn personnel through established roles, expectations, and responsibilities
- Ensure all barn systems, processes and protocols are in place
- Partner with equine service personnel to include veterinarians, farriers, and feed suppliers to meet barn needs
- Schedule and coordinate all trail rides, and special events
- Maintain and update all barn schedules daily through established software
- Address all inquiries for barn and boarding services
- Manage social media pages
- Coordinate set up and orientation for all new boarders
- Ensure all needs of the boarders are being met according to their perspective boarding service level, while also monitoring boarder compliance to barn standards
- Maintain organized, consistent, and effective levels of communication to staff, boarders, and barn owners
- Continually survey the grounds to ensure barn cleanliness and safety with no pending hazards to horses, boarders, personnel, and customers
- Ensure all proper emergency and liability signage is posted as required
- Coordinate all scheduled trail rides and ensure that all paperwork is completed, and safety protocol is strongly enforced to limit any liability
- Address after hours emergency calls
- Maintain all equine boarding documents as required
- Required to cover an assigned minimum of feed shifts per week
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years working within in the equine industry or professional experience in the handling of horses
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity within the equine industry or other related field
- Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with employees, boarders, and all equine service personnel
- Demonstrated high level proficiency of oral and written communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate workload around multiple assignments
- Proficient working knowledge Microsoft Office
Physical Demands
- Physical demands with a considerable amount of time standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stooping
- Physical demands working outside in all types of weather to include heat, cold, and rainy weather conditions.
- Requires the ability for lifting/lowering, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 55lbs
- Ability to operate small scale farm equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift

- Baker, LA 70714: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
Experience:
- Equine: 3 years (Preferred)
- Supervisory: 1 year (Preferred)
