Who we are: Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) Extension Educators are the “front door” to the University, providing a link between OSU and the people of the state in all 77 Oklahoma counties. The OCES represents a federal, state, and county partnership working since 1914. The mission of OCES is to disseminate information to the people of Oklahoma and encourage the adoption of research-generated knowledge. Expected to be located in Stillwater but location is negotiable within the state for the exceptional candidate. This is an extension specialist position with State wide responsibility to provide educational leadership to county, district, and statewide OCES programs for young and beginning farmers and ranchers.

Participates as a cohesive team member with area specialists, state specialists, county educators, and district staff.

Plays a critical role in interdisciplinary teams to develop the objective and comprehensive information needed by agricultural producers, natural resource owners, and agribusiness owners to make decisions to help improve agricultural income, sustainability, and the rural economy.

Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required: Master’s in a field of Agriculture

Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.

Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OCES by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally.

Demonstrated ability to adapt well to changing priorities, situations, and day-to-day demands.

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and resources.

Strong communication skills including written, oral, and electronic.

A commitment to the continuation of personal professional development.

Evidence of ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with clientele, advisory groups, volunteer leaders, and other professionals.

Demonstrated competency and effective use of technology and social media.

Demonstrated leadership ability in designing, promoting, presenting, and evaluating educational programs and the desire to program to reach diverse audiences.

Preferred: Previous experience in Cooperative Extension or closely related work.
