As part of the global breeding team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of edible mushroom breeding strategies within the framework of market needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Conceive and manage the discovery of novel traits in the cultivated button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus)
Develop a breeding program including molecular marker development, genetic analysis, crossing matrices, testing schemes and analysis of results.
Lead, and manage a selection team (research assistant, technician, etc.) responsible for carrying out the program.
Collaborate with the other research teams of the SYLVAN group, located in Europe and China
Work in close collaboration with various departments including production, new product development, sales and quality control.
Travel as necessary to Europe and China depending on current research projects

Qualifications:

Minimum Master’s Degree in Biological or Agronomic Sciences
Knowledge of molecular biology is essential
Doctorate in Biological and Agronomic Sciences preferred
Knowledge of Bioinformatics, and associated software
Experience in the development of molecular markers and marker assisted breeding preferred
Specialization in genetic improvement of plants; understanding of commercial plant breeding systems
Mastery of statistical software
Experience participating in the realization of a selection program, or similar experimental experience via an internship or other relevant experience
Understanding of fungal systems is preferred but not essential
