Job Summary:
The Farm Nutrients Business Operations Manager position is responsible for providing agronomy operational services to support sales and customer service. These services include application, freight, quality monitoring, and technical and logistical support. This position requires expertise in chicken litter quality management, environmental compliance, and basic agronomy skills. The Farm Nutrients Assistant Business Operations Manager leads a group of, scale house clerks, equipment operators, and handlers to ensure the customer service relationships are supported.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fertilizer Operations
Coordinates with site managers to ensure truck scheduling and load out, managing scale house and organizing delivery to farm fields
Ensures haulers and equipment are available and schedules to support sales/customer service needs
Coordinates and documents customers needs, field requirements and delivery information and ensures they are managed and acted upon
Coordinates with Seasonal haulers, negotiates rates and ensures completion and compliance of Independent Seasonalor Agreements of vendors
Ensures customers receive communication and scale house and delivery ticket processes are followed
Prepares and adheres to budgeted annual operational expenditures
Ensures organization complies with all regulatory and licensing requirements
Coordinates with sales, accounting and operations team to establish integrated maps and logistics
Develops, executes and reports on manure quality sampling and monitoring program including reporting of monthly booking values relative to commercial fertilizer markets based on NPK values.
Agronomy Services
Assists in Managing test plots and develops and maintains aggregated result reporting
Identifies and recruits remote service providers including, spreaders, sprayers, and haulers
Sustainability
Participates and continues to develop industry partnerships that focus and influence sustainability
Coordinates and develops data collection on Nitrogen management and research trials focusing on sustainability
Coordinates in-house test plots that support Farm Nutrients core business as it relates to sustainability and optimizing crop performance
Staff Development
Assists in Hiring, training and developing a high-performing operations team
Provides direction, feedback and follow-up with thorough regular interactions and meetings
Works with coworkers to resolve issues
Backup:
A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
3 years of management experience
Travel required
Knowledge of manure and the market value differences between organic and commercial fertilizers
Knowledge and understanding of key economic drivers of a successful agronomy business
Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand
Ability to collect, analyze, compile, interpret and distribute various reports
Ability to determine and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid and logical conclusions
Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette

Preferred:
2-4 year degree in Agricultural or related field
Knowledge of Variable Rate Application software or other crop planning software
