Cattle Specialist Job Opening

Mershon Cattle LLC is a commercial beef cattle operation based in Buckner, MO, near Kansas City. Our cow-calf operation retains ownership to harvest. Our herd consists of Angus based, cross-bred cows. We select Hereford and Simmental bulls with docile traits, which we believe produces animals that are highly efficient and easy to handle.

The care and welfare of our herd is a high priority. We practice low-stress handling, and we are Beef Quality Assurance Certified. We are looking for experienced cattle handlers to join our team and help with daily care of our large and growing cattle herd.

Job Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible for the daily oversight, handling, care and feeding of cattle as part of the Mershon Cattle team. This takes place across the many pastures, corrals and lots the herd lives in across western Missouri.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Direct experience working with beef cattle and farm operations
  • Understanding of cattle nutrition, health and care to ensure that cattle are raised in a high-quality environment.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in animal science, agriculture or related field preferred
  • Ability to operate large farm machinery including tractors and drive trailers
  • Regularly lift 80 lbs. or greater
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required; CDL preferred but not required
  • Pass a background check and drug test.

  • A passion for agriculture and specifically beef cattle
  • Strong verbal communications skills
  • Willingness to participate in additional training, such as Beef Quality Assurance certification

Expectation of Hours

  • 40-50 hours per week on average with seasonal changes; busier during calving/breeding and slower during off season

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
