Job Description
Seeking qualified applications for the Spring 2023 Fall 2023 (Non-Tenure/Grant-funded Track Teaching/Research/Extension Faculty) Virginia State University (VSU), a public, comprehensive 1890 Land Grant Institution and Historically Black College and University, invites applications for Faculty positions in multiple Academic Degree and Certificate Programs. VSU offers 36 undergraduate degree programs, 17 graduate degree programs, 2 doctoral degree programs and 8 certificate programs in its six Academic Colleges: College of Agriculture, Reginald F. Lewis College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Natural and Health Sciences. Teach up to 18 credit hours (in-person, online via synchronous or asynchronous modalities) per academic semester and provide regular office hours to meet student needs and promote student success. This teaching/research/postdoctoral/extension position is non-tenure track and is limited to a one-year Seasonal however; Seasonal renewals are dependent upon performance and continued availability of funds. Master’s degree in the specific Teaching field or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field and/or relevant industry experience required; PhD preferred. Proficiency to teach courses in the following areas: agriculture, family consumer science, textiles, apparel, dietetics, hospitality management, and agriculture research. Must demonstrate effective and engaging teaching skills. The incumbent should have received extensive training and have hands-on experience in applied and basic research, experimental design and implementation, laboratory experiments and field trials, data collection and statistical analysis, effective communication skills in both verbal and written English. Demonstrated ability to publish a plus. Must have the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student and faculty population. Proficiency and willingness to adapt new and emerging pedagogies in both a formal or non-formal classroom.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
PhD preferred. Prior teaching/research/extension experience in a higher education environment highly preferred. Certification specific to teaching/ research/extension highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g. Banner/Blackboard) with ability to use technology to enhance teaching and educational experience. Demonstrated ability to measure, assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
