The Crop Success Advisor acts as a daily point of contact to growers, agronomists, and consultants from around the country and abroad as they utilize the Apical Method of Crop Improvement and implement our established processes of combining laboratory analytics, crop physiology, and field data to improve crop performance for existing and prospective clients.

The position consists of approximately:

· 60 % working directly with growers to solve crop problems (30% existing customers & 30 % new customers) via phone, email, in person, virtual meetings, and field trials.

· 20% execution of various aspects of the sales process (CRM software, SOPs for incoming/outgoing products, learning from other team members)

· 20% implementing and refining of the techniques and tools that lead to success in that process (social media, direct marketing, customer segmentation, etc.).

Day-to-day tasks include interfacing with growers, assisting with new client development, and recommending the implementation of Apical methods, techniques, products, and tools to solve complex agricultural problems. This takes the form mostly of fielding inbound sales and customer support calls, processing incoming orders, answering questions about the apical method and effectively communicating the apical story to our diverse customer base.

Essential to the position is the ability to identify customer needs and preferences, helping them to navigate their customized Apical platform. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment to rapidly implement the best available approaches in the marketplace to help growers achieve success in organic/biological crop production.

Computer skills are essential; Apical’s database, e-commerce, social media platforms, academic journal, and other platforms including Google Suite are used daily.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in an agriculture-related field
  • 3+ years in ag production with ecological methods
  • ASA (PCA, CCA), ODA PC, PA, PR, or other industry certification
  • Reliable self-starter that can work with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Personable and good at building relationships
  • Tech savvy- MS Office, Google Suite, internet, smartphone, social media competent
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow all legal, regulatory, and safety protocols
  • Ability to precisely follow crop recommendation protocols
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional working environment
  • Ability to work alone or with 1-10 others
  • Occasional use of forklift
  • Lift over 50 lb when needed
  • ASA (PCA, CCA), ODA PC, PA, PR, or other industry certification (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Client relationship building; identification, segmentation, development, servicing, and appreciation
  • Answer incoming customer calls, direct customers to appropriate resources, answer questions
  • Help growers navigate nuances in customer accounts and online sales platforms
  • Assist with lab report interpretation and translation into crop input selection
  • Explain basic features of the apical system to help onboard customers
  • Perform short social media updates with relevant stories, testimonials, and science insights
  • Quickly assess client type and needs, and direct them to the correct resources
  • Process incoming sales orders and manage grower questions
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with online and local orders
  • Meet with clients virtually (phone and/or video calls), or in-person to build rapport and trust, and implement Apical protocols
  • Effectively communicate the Apical story to industry professionals and prospective clients
  • Use basic computer skills, follow established protocols, work in a high throughput agronomy firm
  • Use custom database, email, e-commerce interface, phone/text/zoom, and social media
  • Be a team player, build good relationships with Apical staff
  • Work with Apical staff on logistics, billing, ERP system, customer account management
  • Assist in executing an Apical sustainability plan for recycling, ad hoc order processing, etc.

Canby, OR (occasional telecommuting and travel)

Pay

55-80K Annually (DOE) + Commission/Performance incentives, health benefits, holiday pay, PTO

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
