Illinois Foundation Seeds Inc. (IFSI) is an independent company delivering the leading research, product development, licensing, and production for the seed industry’s sweet corn and field crops.
Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Crop Production Specialist to assist in the multi-crop production efforts in Harvard, IL with responsibilities associated with facility and crop management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preventative maintenance
- Develop a thorough understanding of farming operations, and monitoring systems
- Become proficient in operation of tillage tools
- Become proficient in operation of fertilizer and chemical applicators while maintaining detailed and accurate logs
- Manage the order process for fertilizer and chemical applications
- Assist in the planning and execution of seed production operations
- Assist with maintenance of seed conditioning equipment, and operation of equipment
- Maintain a high standard for safety, compliance, and accuracy
- Implement new technologies with appropriate allocation of resources
- Support and participate in operating budgets by identifying and supporting capital needs
Qualifications/ Knowledge Needed:
- Commensurate experience required, an AS in Agronomy, Crop Science is beneficial
- Evidence of ability to lead and manage field production
- Experience working in agriculture understanding that overtime and weekends are required in peak seasons
- Possess or ability to obtain CDL and Commercial Pesticide Licenses
- Ability to lift 75 pounds
- Capable of working as a member of a team sharing responsibilities, ideas, inputs and coordinating for a meaningful and thorough outcome. Great temperament for working with growers, nurseries and various individuals outside of the company
- Capable of differentiating information or materials that are confidential and sharing information appropriately within and outside the IFSI organization
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and very good knowledge of computer applications
- Ability to work independently along with good team leadership and management skills
- Valid drivers license with acceptable driving history
