AGRONOMY DIRECTOR
JOB PURPOSE: To deliver on the mission of Valley Farmers Supply by profitably leading the companys agronomy business
JOB SUMMARY: Based in our Worden business office, this key leadership position is accountable for planning and directing all agronomy functions including operations, customer service, supply chain and business development
Reports To: President and CEO
Essential Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following:
Responsible for profitably leading the companys agronomy business
Direct agronomists with an emphasis on exceptional customer service while expanding market share
Direct operations managers with an emphasis on customer service, efficiency and prudent expense management
Effective use of all agronomy equipment, moving equipment within companywide operations to maximize efficiencies
Achieve satisfactory market share while delivery profitability performance expectations
Maximizing gross margins through pricing, effectively striking a balance between growing the business and delivering acceptable margin percentages
Develop, and implement, effective precision (technology) agriculture strategy
Establish strategic marketing plans to achieve company objectives for both agronomy products and services
Research, analyze and monitor financial, technological and demographic factors to capitalize on market opportunities and minimize effects of competitive activity
Effective procurement of all materials utilized for fertilizer blending to maximize margins
Effective procurement of crop protection chemicals and seed products to maximize margins
Create and support a safety-first culture
Oversee proper maintenance of all agronomy related rolling stock
Serve as liaison between suppliers and other team members within the company
Train sales staff and other key positions on programs, pricing and overall strategy for the agronomy division
Establish and maintain a consistent company image throughout all product lines, promotional materials and events
Be a team player within the entire Valley Farmers Supply organization
Establish and maintain relationships with key industry and strategic community partners
Special Skills/Training
Knowledge of computer systems operation and associated software
Skill to operate a forklift safely and efficiently
Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Qualifications
College Degree in Agriculture (or related field). Six to ten years of job-related job experience may substitute for education
Minimum five years of industry experience
Proficiency in crop, weeds, and seed identification
Three years experience managing an agronomy department/location and supervising staff
Three years experience in developing and executing business development plans
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
Work may require repeated turning and lifting of over 60 pounds
Work may require long periods of walking and standing
Working Conditions
Work is sometimes conducted outdoors with no climate control
Exposure to dust and noise.

This position comes with a competitive compensation package based on background and experience.
