Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Assist in developing and overseeing precise programs for the application of all pesticides and fertilizers
Ensure courses practice sound agronomic principles
Select equipment to be leased and purchased
Coordinate and combine purchases when possible to maintain club properties and maximize company profitability
Monitor for accuracy and profitability and completeness all records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc. are kept on all courses
Identify annual capital expenditure needs through the budget process short and long term
Create annual budgets designed for the specific needs of the golf course and the overall profitability of the company
Responsible for overseeing inventory control of all company courses
Responsible for appraising performances of those that report to him; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Provide leadership and motivation for all team members
Establish and monitor overseeding programs
Communicate regularly with management, golf staff and members
Coordinate the assessment of golf courses for damage immediately after storm events and make report to President of the Company
Ensure a safe and clean work environment for all employees by enforcing all policies and procedures
Conduct bi- monthly course review with superintendent using the company format and form.
Ensure all company policies and guidelines are in place and being adhered to.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Actively oversee safety programs, rules and guidelines are in place in accordance with company, OSHA, EPA, and other state and federal law requirements.
Review that documentation of safety training and orientation for all employees is occurring.
Investigate loss producing incidents and review prevention recommendations with all employees.
Ensure by monitoring, that safety meetings and safety training are being conducted and documented.
Take personal responsibility for safety every day

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 2 year degree in turf grass science or related field
Minimum of 5 years multi-course management
Requires advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods; and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf
Requires a high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
Requires knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations – including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental stewardship standards, laws and regulations
Requires participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence courses, field days and trade shows
Knowledge of financial forecasting for a golf course operation
Ability to lead and motivate team
Possess or be able to obtain a SC pesticide license within 90 days of employment
Must have a valid driver’s license
