The Division Agronomist for Helena’s Specialty business is responsible for providing overall agronomic support to employees in the turf and ornamental, industrial vegetation management, forestry, aquatics and pest control market segments. This includes training sales teams across the division to help them develop both basic and advanced agronomic knowledge in order to increase value for our customers. This role also assists with research and development of new markets by utilizing the combined resources of Helena Products Group (HPG) and basic manufacturers.
The employee’s primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena’s customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
What your day may look like
Works with sales teams, Rx360 Specialists and HPG Product Managers to develop sound agronomic fertility programs.
Develops fertilizer programs using more efficient technologies such as polymer coated fertilizer in conjunction with division leadership.
Plans and presents at agronomic meetings to sales locations and/or customers.
Maintains current information resources by attending agronomic seminars and developing a network of university and industry contacts.
Assists Branch and Area Managers with training new sales team members on fertility and other agronomic best practices.
Works with the Rx360 team to promote and support Rx360 products and services.
Partners with the Business Unit Agronomist, National Agronomist and Technical Service Agronomist on agronomic projects as needed.
Sets up research and demonstration plots to promote effective, profitable products; including HPG products, basic manufacturer products and Rx360 products and services.
Stays updated on advancements in the precision ag/information management industry including field testing new tools and technology.
Works with other Agronomists across the company to develop training materials.
Assists locations in integrating agronomic solutions including HPG products, fertilizer and Rx360 services into sales programs.
Develops working relationships with basic manufacturers’ technical service teams on new compounds prior to registration and sale.
Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position
Master’s degree in Turfgrass Science, Nursery or Greenhouse Production or related field is required.
Five years of experience in sales or agronomic consulting required.
D. is preferred.
The ability to obtain necessary licenses for pesticide advice, experimentation and/or use is required.

The work environment for this position may require the employee to work in an outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
