POSITION SUMMARY:
Position immediately open for a motivated, hardworking horse lover to join our growing team at a premier equestrian training facility in Central Oregon. We are looking for someone for approximately 20 hours per week to help feed 40+ horses. Additional hours available if desired. This is an ideal opportunity to work outdoors in beautiful Bend while gaining professional horse care experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Feeding dinner to 40+ horses. Feeding entails provision of hay and grain and filling waters as necessary, as well as bringing them into the barns for the night.

At least two feed shifts required per week.
Additional feed shifts available if desired.
Afternoon shifts are from approximately 1:00pm – 6:00pm.

Other basic horse care and general barn tasks as needed, such as blanketing, cleaning water troughs and tidying the barn aisle. No stall cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Horse handling experience required.

Proficient in haltering and leading.
Basic knowledge of horse care, health and behavior.
An ethic of kindness towards animals.

Other:

Must have reliable transportation.
Responsible, punctual, and dependable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as with other staff in a team context.
Highschool, college or some equivalent education preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires an extensive amount of walking when bringing horses to and from pastures.
Ability to lift and shift heavy loads such as grain bags, hay bales and water buckets.
Ability to work while standing for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily outdoors, with occasional inclement weather in winter and heat in summer.
Indoor barn facilities include a shared office/break room with a lunch area.
