Job Description

Wilders is actively seeking an experienced Farm Coordinator. The Farm Coordinator is responsible for promoting a culture of safety while assisting with the daily operations at the farm. The primary focus of the Farm Coordinator will be centered on the care and welfare of all livestock, production efficiency of pastures, and site care of maintenance facilities.

The Farm Coordinator must enjoy working in a family-owned, entrepreneurial business that is mission-driven and results-oriented. This role requires intentional adaptability on a regular basis, as well as a high commitment to being available and flexible.

This is a full-time, onsite position requiring approximately 45-50 hours per week. Your regular weekly schedule will be Monday through Friday, along with rotating weekends (two a month) with the rest of the Wilders farm team. The team will work to coordinate schedules in advance to ensure a good work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities

Livestock

● Assist with the daily management of all livestock including but not limited to:

  • Routine feeding of grain, forages, and supplements for cattle and pigs ○
  • Utilize TMR mixer to feed the whole herd in the fall, winter and spring, along with sale animals year around.
  • Keep feed area clean and tidy
  • Perform routine herd health procedures including vaccinations, deworming, fly control, tagging and tattooing
  • Assist with the diagnosis and treatment of livestock
  • Work with the Farm Manager on more serious problems and routine herd testing
  • Breeding – heat detection, donor preparation, recipient preparation, related records
  • Calving – routine observation and assistance, calf processing, related records
  • Ability to haul livestock with the use of a company vehicle

Facility/Grounds
● Assist with pasture management and facility upkeep including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining rotational grazing, pasture clipping, spraying, fertilizing, and dragging
  • Assist with row crop land tillage, planting, spraying, and harvesting
  • Hay bailing hauling, moving under shelter, and wrapping
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the farm by moving bedding, hauling manure, high-pressure washing, and mowing
  • Check and maintain fence lines and farm equipment regularly

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of farm-related experience, preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years
  • Experience with general animal husbandry tasks including basic veterinary procedures is preferred
  • Experience and understanding of rotational grazing
  • Need a “Will to Win” attitude of wanting to better yourself personally and professionally
  • Must have strong coordination, time management, active listening, communication, critical thinking and reasoning skills

Physical Demands
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Farm Coordinator to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Constant physical effort, must be able to stand for extended periods of time and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds and, at times, as much as 90 pounds, as may be assigned
  • Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the farm, including the activities of other employees, the operation of equipment, and the movement of all livestock
  • Must be able to climb on and off farm equipment safely
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions

Compensation
Compensation will be discussed in the interview process based on experience and skill level.
