Silver Lion Farms is looking for a dependable, responsible, and experienced Farm Equipment Mechanic to join our team in White Pine County, Ely, Nevada
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Farm Mechanic with diesel mechanic skills to assemble, maintain and repair our agricultural machinery, vehicles, and equipment. Must be able to perform routine maintenance on all equipment as well as follow all safety precautions.
Typical working hours: Shift hours will vary, but shifts are typically Monday – Friday from 7 am – 3:30 pm. Additional hours are required during our busy seasons . Double time is paid for employees that work on any eligible holidays.
Location: This position requires you to work onsite at our Ely, Nevada location (Near the intersection of US Rt 93 & US Alt Route 93).

Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Repairs and Maintenance on framing and agricultural equipment
- Under limited supervision, the Farm Equipment Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of various farm machinery, including, but not limited to, Tractors, forklifts, and semi-trucks
- Run diagnostics, adjust, repair, and overhaul tractors, irrigation systems, harvesters, and other farm equipment, including semi heads.
- Operate various mechanical equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, loaders, and irrigation equipment, to perform diagnostic-based maintenance.
- Performs installations and fabrications when necessary; welding experience is a BIG plus.
- Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling, as necessary
- Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts and report to the manager
- Identifies and repairs the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies on a regular basis.
- Coordinates with farm and greenhouse managers to schedule regular maintenance inspections or repairs and services on all machines
- Makes any necessary modifications to implement and performs test runs of equipment prior to field use
- Collaborate with other team members to prioritize and complete repair tasks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supportive Functions
- May be required to help with general field operations at peak season or slow mechanical periods throughout the year, as deemed necessary by the manager
- Meets with farm manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as necessary
- Communicates with the purchasing team to order replacement parts for machines

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license
- Highschool diploma or GED
- 3+ years’ experience as a diesel mechanic
- Experience with farm equipment and equipment maintenance
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision, including some holidays or weekends during peak seasons
- Knowledge of computers, email, and mobile apps
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail
- Must be able and willing to work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the farm daily
Physical Requirements
- Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks, including standing, walking, lifting, and bending for prolonged periods
- Sufficient strength and manual dexterity to handle heavy machinery, lift and maneuver parts, and operate tools effectively
- Agility and flexibility to access and repair equipment in various locations
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely, such as engine components, tires, or hydraulic systems
- Mechanical aptitude to understand and troubleshoot mechanical systems, utilize tools correctly and apply problem-solving skills
- Stamina to work outdoors in different weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow
Nice to Haves
- Fabrication or welding experience is a PLUS
- Commercial Driver’s License
- Experience driving and operating tractors
- Experience in farm operations
