Job Description
The Farm Foreman II, performs and supervises phases of seed production and conditioning, including the operation, maintenance, modification, repair and safety of equipment and materials.
Responsibilities:

Evaluates production fields and rogues or supervises rogueing for genetic and quality contaminants to meet the quality standards established by the TDA for Foundation Seed Class.

Performs or supervises the harvest, transportation, storage, conditioning, and distribution of foundation seed as directed by the Manager.

Performs or supervises repair and maintenance for all equipment and machinery such as: labeling machines, bag closers, sacking equipment, seed treaters, cleaners, separators, elevators, graders, dryers, forklifts, refrigeration vaults, fumigating equipment, harvesting equipment, automobiles, trucks, tractors, combines and other incidental machinery that might be involved.

Works with the breeders on potential releases; process and deliver to TDA the necessary paperwork needed for all new variety releases being placed on the agenda of the State Seed and Plant Board.

Works with the licensees to determine the amounts of seed to be produced; timing and method of planting; acreage; harvest, process the seed; and seed storage.

Acts as an agent for Foundation Seed as directed by the Manager in contacting and working with other state agencies, companies, or individuals in supervising or directing the supervision of planting, cultivating irrigating, rogueing, harvesting, transporting, processing, treating, storing, distributing, and warehousing seedstocks according to the standards set forth in the Seed Certification Program of the State of Texas.

Supervises the procurement and maintenance of the kind and quantity of stock and materials (bags, tags, thread, insecticides, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, fumigants, and fertilizers) necessary for the various operations.

Supervises and manages seed processing, inventory and distribution records as directed by the Manager.

Assists other departments in their seed harvesting and processing operations by offering advice and assistance as requested.

Perform other job-related duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Required Licenses and Certifications:
The ability to obtain a fumigation certification and a seed treatment pesticide applicator certification.
Other Requirements:
