The Family Garden is seeking a full-time Farm Hand to join our team. We are a 20-acre vegetable farm in southeast Gainesville. We grow mostly annual vegetables, and also have some perennial fruit tree plots. We sell via CSA, wholesale, and one farmers market on Saturday mornings. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, have an interest in agriculture, and a willingness to learn. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a small, diversified farm where every day is different. It also is an opportunity to grow with the farm and gain more responsibilities as you learn our systems. Experience is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
-Perform a wide range of general farm duties including but not limited to: planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, processing, packaging, ect
– Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment such as weed whackers, mowers, and tractors
– Work farmer’s market on Saturdays
– Scout and watch for pest or disease issues
– Complete all farm activities effectively and efficiently
-Assist with social media
Skills
– Good attitude and a team player
– Open-minded and willing to grow
– Capable of heavy lifting as required
– Knowledge of farm operations and tools
– Knowledge of plants and their care
– Able to work outdoors in all types of weather
– Ability to work quickly and efficiently with little oversight
– Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
