POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Field Supervisor provides routine maintenance and safe operation of farm equipment in carrying out tasks and work orders related to custom farming for the Agriculture Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Loads, hauls, and drives motorized equipment to and from the designated job sites on a tractor-trailer or similar vehicles, in a safe manner.

2. Operates farm equipment, i.e., tractors, balers, swathers and stack wagon and other implements, at the job site in a safe manner.

3. Performs daily maintenance checks and conducts minor repairs on farm equipment and vehicles, reporting major repair work needed to supervisor.

4. Maintains a daily log of hours of operation, maintenance performed, and other related information on all farm equipment and provides information to the Supervisor.

5. Communicates with the tribal members, tribal staff, etc. by telephone and/or in person.

6. Safely operates and maintains hand tools, power tools, and farm equipment.

7. Follows safety rules and regulations and encourages other employees to maintain a safe work environment.

8. Maintains an effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, Tribal members, and the public.

9. Works irregular hours during peak seasons and in all weather conditions.

10. Attends staff meetings and training sessions as requested.

11. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a High School diploma or GED.

Must have 1 year of experience in the operation and maintenance of farm equipment.

Must pass an onsite equipment operating test.

Must be able to work irregular hours during peak seasons.

Must have a valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.

Must pass a thorough criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Class A or B CDL for state of residency.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.88 – $19.41 per hour
