Job Description
Progressive farming company in the Yuma, AZ area has position available for a self-motivated agriculturalist looking for a career as a Farm Manager. While we own over 4,000 farm acres, the primary responsibilities for this position will be focused on 3,500+- farmed acres in eastern WMIDD as well as YMIDD. Crops grown include alfalfa, small grains, grass seed and citrus.
Strong candidates will have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience:
- Directing all farm operations, including ground preparation, planting, fertilization, irrigation, crop health, harvesting and storage of field crops
- Managing staff, including hiring, firing, training and directing best farm practices
- Identify existing employees with strong potential for advancement and implementing a development plan
- Managing equipment maintenance and identifying equipment/mechanical issues
- Strong computer skills (Excel/Word)
- Collecting and coding invoices in a timely manner
- Communicating in both English and Spanish to management and farm team
- Food Safety experience
- Yuma area farm contacts
- Arizona Pesticide Applicator License preferred
Requirements:
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience directing growing activities, or lesser experience along with a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science or Agricultural Systems
Prior experience driving tractors and maintaining equipment is a plus
- Experience managing a team of 10+ employees
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
