Job Description
As the Farm Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our farm operations, from planning and planting to harvesting and distribution. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies for maximizing yields and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our farm while also supporting our program participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement farm plans for planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops that take into account the abilities and needs of our program participants
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the farm, including irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and equipment maintenance, while providing guidance and support to program participants
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including organic certification
- Manage the greenhouse, including planning and implementing crop rotations, monitoring environmental conditions, and maintaining equipment
- Develop and manage budgets for the farm operations and greenhouse
- Provide support and guidance to program participants who may also work on the farm
- Coordinate with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to ensure timely and efficient distribution of our produce
- Maintain accurate records of all farm operations, including crop yields and expenses, while also tracking program participant involvement and progress
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in farm management or related field
- Experience in greenhouse management preferred
- Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and organic certification requirements
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license

Farmsteads of New England is seeking a Farm Manager to oversee the initial stages of planning and developing our farm, as well as building the capacity of our greenhouse.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour
