Job Description
Hours are generally M-F, 35-40 hours/week for 6 months and 40-50 hours/week for 6 months during our busy season
(includes some weekends)
The Foreperson is responsible for the oversight and support of farm and crew operations. This includes, but is not limited to, safety programs, crop management, event setup, equipment operation/maintenance, and maintenance/support of all properties.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Bi-weekly payroll management for all direct reporting staff.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversees the day-to-day workflow across multiple properties.
- Coordinates resources such as equipment and materials.
- Conducts monthly safety meetings.
· Maintains irrigation schedule during needed months.
· Implements spray programs across multiple crops.
- Allocates general and daily responsibilities to crew.
- Coordinates tasks according to priorities and plans, which can shift as issues arise.
- Supervises the use of and operates machinery and equipment.
- Reports on progress to ownership and other team leads as needed.
- Identifies and resolves challenges.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair.
Required /Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Experience operating and maintaining agricultural and small gas engine equipment. Including operation of manual transmissions.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Available on weekends during the peak season.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards pertaining to workplace safety.
- Semi-fluent in Spanish is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a Moving Vehicle Record background check.
- Basic understanding of utilities and construction processes.
- Experience handling restricted use pesticides and able to acquire a Private Applicator’s license through WSDA within one year of hire.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience or degree in a related field or industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform long periods of physical work.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
- Prolonged periods operating commercial equipment such as loaders, excavators, compressors, generators, mowers, chainsaws, weed-whackers etc…
- Ability to perform extended hours during the busy season(s).
