Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Farm Manager. The Farm Manager manages the overall daily operations of the farms. This person is responsible for managing personnel, land, machinery, and all other resources to produce high quality and high yielding crops. Additionally, the Farm Manager relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The ideal candidate will lead, inspire, and motivate others to perform with the highest integrity and level of performance.

Required Skills / Competencies:
Knowledge Areas:

Understanding of company standards and expectations (training will be provided)
Recent supervisory experience in an ag environment
Regular and consistent attendance are a must.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Willingness to work extended hours during peak farming seasons, including weekends and holidays
Basic mathematical skills
Proficient computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Bilingual Spanish skills highly desired
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Experience:

Several years of experience in farm management, with a proven track record of success
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop farm workers
Bachelors degree in Agriculture, or related field preferred but not required

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide supervision and direction to personnel
Scheduling daily staffing for production and maintenance of facilities
Responsible for budgeting and its implementation
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which includes lifting and carrying repetitively up to 50 lbs. This job will occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, and/or risk of electrical shock; frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals; and regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per applicable laws and regulations will be supplied.
Monitor potatoes for crop development, crop pests, soil moisture, weeds, etc.
Ensure timeliness of all agricultural practices on the unit, including land preparation, seedbed preparation, planting, cultivating, chemical and fertilizer application, irrigation, and harvesting.
Direct activities on a farm unit to produce, harvest, and store crops, to achieve the greatest profitability per acre while improving the resource base.
Identify areas of improvement; make recommendations on continuous improvement projects
Manage, mentor, and develop personnel on all policy, procedures, and safety in the performance of operations and tasks, per company standards.
Expand cross-training and delegation of duties to maintain highly motivated management staff
Assist with hiring of staff
Attend meetings as necessary to perform and implement responsibilities effectively, including monthly budget meetings, monthly safety meetings, and production meetings.
Complete annual performance reviews of staff including goal establishment and monitoring of their progress to establish accountability
Move equipment Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Work Environment:

All outside weather conditions, we work no matter the weather
Loud noises, continuous
Working indoors and outdoors, inside cellar, no air-conditioning, and no heating
Dirt, dust, mud, and wet flooring

Physical Demands:

The ability to bend, sit, twist, and reach for the duration of an 12-14 hour shift
Ability to speak and hear other employees
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Required to wear the provided Personal Protective Equipment (Gloves, Glasses, Facemasks, Safety Vest)
