Farm Mechanic in Berlin Heights, OH

Family owned and operated agribusiness seeking experienced, energetic individual with farm mechanic’s background. Employee’s duties change throughout the seasons; however, main core job will be in the shop helping with maintenance of the equipment.

Other activities assigned throughout the year may include tractor/applicator operations, mowing and grass control, unloading and loading of trucks from the grain bins. Applicants should be capable of physical labor, dependable and honest person who is invested in the farm lifestyle.

Applicants must work well with minimal supervision. Anyone applying for this position needs a valid driver’s license and must have the ability to speak English. Employees average different amounts of hours throughout the year. Normally it can be expected to have additional hours beyond 40 hours per week during the planting and harvesting seasons.

Position offer Company health and retirement plans after 90 days. Pay is based off of previous work experience.

Reports to: Farm Manager / CEO

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ability to maintain all kinds of equipment from tractors, combines, and semi trucks.

Maintain a sense of organization with tools and equipment in the shop and throughout the farm.

Competent to complete pre and post operation safety inspections on machinery.

Perform minor repairs on farm buildings, grain bins, etc.

Inspect all tools and ensure they are fully operational and consistently report necessary repairs/replacements to management.

Ability to operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, self-propelled machinery, power and hand tools.

Ability to move equipment and other objects to and from the field.

Assists with general fieldwork such as planting, spraying, etc.…

Perform hay mowing, bailing and moving round bales.

Drive grain trucks from the fields to grain driers and bins.

Qualifications:

Willing to learn new skills and procedures and able to adapt to changes.

Ability to work alone as well as in a team environment.

Willing to complete tasks regardless of weather conditions.

Ability to undertake heavy manual labor and able to lift heavy objects 50+ pounds.

Available to work long hours, available weekends, and holidays, and be flexible when asked to arrive early or stay late, including emergencies that may occur in this field of work.

Able to respond quickly to situations.

Demonstrate high standards of professionalism.

Act by the farm’s policies and in alignment with the culture.

Previous farm experience (Preferred).

Competent to drive a tractor is (Preferred).

Class A CDL with/air brakes (Preferred).

Valid Driver’s License with Reasonable MVR (Required).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
