ABOUT TABULA RASA FARMS

Tabula Rasa Farms is a 440 acre, diversified, regenerative farm that sits amongst the foothills of Oregon’s Coast Range, 4 miles west of Carlton, OR. We have an integrated livestock and garden operation where we raise grass-fed/grass-finished cattle, forested and pasture-raised heritage breed hogs, laying hens, and turkeys. Our 3 acre market garden runs a 4-season program growing 140 varieties of vegetables and fruits supporting local restaurants and a CSA program.

WHY WE NEED YOU

We are seeking a self-motivated, skilled individual with at least 2 years of practical farm, animal handling experience and/or crop production along with machinery and/or construction experience and a general aptitude for technical work. We are a growing farm and have a great farm team in place, come join our team and grow with us.

The farm technician will support all activities on Tabula Rasa Farms pasture-based livestock production including cow/calf operation, heritage cross hogs, poultry, as well as any and all general farm duties. This role also will require periodic rotations in crop and garden production. This position has growth and advancement opportunities.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Farm Technician will be responsible for conducting routine maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, including feed & watering equipment, mobile coops and other animal sheltering, fencing repairs, tractors, harvesters, trucks, ATVs, and trailers
  • The Farm Technician will also diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, suggest and implement new equipment modifications, and work with other employees to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Develop and execute storage and safety procedures around farm equipment
  • Establishing and maintaining safety protocols, routine maintenance schedules, and training all team members and users
  • Procure materials for farm maintenance and special projects
  • Identify and execute improvements for operational efficiency, employee safety and environmental sustainability
  • Well versed in at least two of the following subjects: electrical ,welding, carpentry, plumbing
  • Includes support for chores, garden and or livestock assistance
  • Acknowledges and learns from mistakes without blaming others; recognizes the impact of one’s behavior on others

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 yrs or more years of experience diagnosing and fixing farming equipment and/ or heavy machinery, preferably agriculture equipment
  • Skilled in basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry
  • Thorough understanding of diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and suggest solutions
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills
  • Drivers license with a good driving record
  • Some tools provided, personal tools preferred

Job Type: Full-time or Part-Time

Hours of Work: This position can be part-time or full-time and has flexibility depending on the right person for the job.
