Provide technical support for the crop production program at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center. Field work will include participation in agronomic practices such as tillage, planting, cultivation, irrigation, spraying, and harvest. Shop work will include service and repair of farm equipment, maintenance of shop tools and general farm upkeep. Record keeping will include note taking and organizing data.
Supervision of part-time labor and hourly student workers. Class B CDL and a Nebraska pesticide applicators license required within six months of hire.

Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma plus four years of agriculture experience required; education in a related field may substitute year for year for the experience requirement. Irrigated row crop production and farm equipment use and maintenance experience necessary. Experience must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, ability to keep detailed field and equipment maintenance records, and attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to use mathematical skills for sprayer calculations. Computer knowledge including email, spreadsheet, and word processing proficiency. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of cultural methods in agriculture, knowledge and skills with GPS technology, knowledge in pest scouting, basic knowledge of diesel engine maintenance, and welding preferred.
