Farm to School Coordinator in Eugene, OR 97402  (Bethel area)

Bethel School District Nutrition Services is seeking a 4 hour per day Farm to School Coordinator. This position will work closely with the farm manager, Nutrition Services staff, Kalapuya High School staff and students to provide implementation and support for district-wide Farm to School and Nutrition Education programming.

Primary Task and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and lead students in food processing of farm fresh products to value added products for school meals
Support development and coordination of Elementary Farm tours at Bethel District Farm and lead food preparation/demonstration portion of tour
Support the development and implementation of the Farm to School HACCP food safety plan
Collaborate with Bethel Nutrition Services staff to assure efficient and effective incorporation of local products into food service operations
Coordinate Farm to School and Nutrition Promotion events
Partner with outside organizations to establish the Bethel District farm as a site for farm field trips, school garden support, training opportunities, and special events.

Skills and Qualifications:

Food Handlers Card required
Degree in Nutrition, Agriculture or Culinary Arts Certification preferred
Demonstrated teaching and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage, support and lead youth
Excellent public relations and communication skills, interpersonal, written and verbal
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize with limited supervision, self-motivated
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal record check
Proficient computer skills and use of MS Office Suite
Ability to maintain confidentiality
