Farm Worker in Gardiner, ME

Andrews Farm, a small scale, high production organic produce farm located near downtown Gardiner, Maine is hiring for full and part time help to start in March and April.

We grow high-quality produce on beautiful acreage and extend the season using passive and climate-controlled greenhouses. The main growing season begins in April and ends in mid-November, though we harvest and sell year-round and can offer part- to full-time work through winter as well.

Work is structured, but varied and includes: seeding, planting, maintaining crops using hand tools and light machinery, harvesting, and washing, preparing and packing produce for market, CSA, and wholesale. Additional opportunities include helping at weekday farmer’s markets, with building projects, and with managing specific areas of the farm. Positions are 30- 40 hours/week.

Pay is $15.00-17.00/hour depending on experience, plus PTO (1 personal day per month based on 40-hour work week), end of season bonus (equivalent to an extra $1 per hour for total hours worked between April 3rd and November 17th), and all the produce you can eat from our farm.

We’re looking for applicants who:

-have had at least one season of outdoor manual labor
-have farm experience and carpentry skills (not necessary but helpful)
-can listen to and read directions, implement multi-step instructions, and ask constructive questions
-work well both on a team and alone
-come motivated to develop new skills, including how to work efficiently and use good body mechanics
-are able to lift 50 lbs.
