Assures quality, purity, and proper use of production materials to sustain South Carolina agriculture. Conducts daily investigation and inspection activities. Serves an assigned territory of several counties and in locations throughout the State. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

45% – Essential – Fertilizer Regulatory Program: Inspects and obtains fertilizer, lime and landplaster samples from bagged, bulk and liquid samples in assigned territory for analysis at the fertilizer laboratory. Inspects and reviews business records and physical facilities of companies who sell restricted use products. Reviews labels of fertilizer, lime and soil amendment materials for compliance with the South Carolina Fertilizer Law and the South Lime Materials Act and that all products offered for sale are properly registered with the State. Consults with custom blending operations to assist with fertilizer deficiency ratio. Communicates with Fertilizer Program Manager about non compliances in the field. Assists other Inspectors to maintain a quick delivery of samples to the laboratory. 45% – Essential – Seed Certification Program: Inspects Production Fields and conditioning plants for compliance with the South Carolina Seed Certification Standards as well as the State and Federal seed laws. Ensures all inspections assigned are done in a timely manner and documented in accordance to SC Standards and are sent to the Department. 10% – Essential – Outreach: Participates in educational and public outreach activities for the assigned Department and in cooperation with other elements of Clemson University and other State Agencies. Assists other units within the Division of Regulatory and Public Service Programs with their programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education – High School or Equivalent – Exp. conducting investigations or performing law enforcement duties. Licenses – Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000 Work Exp 0+ years

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($ 45,530.00 – $ 52,000.00)

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 2 employee Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
