Gardener – Farm Assistant in Upperville, VA

Job Description

Historic Oak Spring Farm located in Northern Virginia is hiring a Gardener – Farm Assistant to join the staff in Upperville, VA (about an hour west of Washington DC). In this role you will participate in day to day farm management and maintenance and oversee gardens and upkeep. The perfect candidate would have a background in horticulture or extensive gardening experience.

This is a small team that works year-round and it is a flexible and laid back work environment. The farm is 343 acres uniquely located in the Virginia Piedmont Region, between the Blue Ridge and Bull Run mountains, and in the foothills of Appalachia and includes an equine facility under separate supervision.

We offer competitive compensation of $45,000 – $55,000 depending on experience, health insurance, paid vacation, and bonuses.

What you will be doing:
Oversee gardens and farm maintenance.
Operate farm equipment (tractors, mowers)
Lead small crew to compete daily tasks.
Conduct plant care and management, including watering, weeding, spacing, and trimming.

This job is for you if you have:
Prior experience in agriculture, horticulture, farming, garden, greenhouse, plant care, or other relatable field.
Strong work ethic and detail oriented.
Ability to maintain a neat and clean working environment.
Basic mechanical and maintenance knowledge of buildings and equipment.
Good leadership qualities and can work in both a team and individual setting.
