We are an established 3000 acre grain farm (corn and soybeans) located in the Iowa Great Lakes / Okoboji area. If you don’t know about this area, it is a regional vacation spot offering many fun and exciting things to do.
We are looking for a responsible individual to join our team and participate in the operational duties involved with growing and handling corn and soybeans. It is preferred that this individual possess farm experience to include tractor and truck operation, basic mechanical skills and ability to perform manual labor. A valid driver’s license is necessary. This individual would be working in agronomy, computers and precision agriculture, machine operation, welding, excavation, mechanics and general labor. Applicant must be reasonably physically fit and capable of working alone and working with others. Applicant would be working with, one or two employees year-round, and a crew of 3-6 in planting and harvest. Self-motivation, organization, attention to detail, along with critical thinking skills are desired.
The position is full time and year around. Seasonally, during planting and harvest, longer days and rotating weekend scheduling is required. We will however respect a need for family and personal time. There is some flexibility with hours and days of employment. Winter duties are primarily performing machinery and truck cleanup, repair, and maintenance along with grain loading and hauling. Growing season duties include the previously mentioned items additionally to include; labor, and machine and truck operation pertaining to crop growing and harvesting, building and bin site repair and maintenance. Duties and responsibility will vary with the candidate’s skill and proficiency level. Pay level listed would be starting wages dependent on skill level and is negotiable. Wages could be expected to increase as skill and understanding of our farming methods develop.
