Salary Range: $19 – $22 per hour, housing included
Duration: November 1, 2023 – March 15, 2024, full-time seasonal

The American Alpine Club (AAC) is looking for a multi-talented and self-motivated team member to join us as the Ranch Manager at the Hueco Rock Ranch. The Ranch Manager oversees the Hueco Rock Ranch, which includes ensuring the success of the AAC’s Hueco Rock Ranch by overseeing part-time staff, daily operations, maintenance, and guest services. This includes networking with local stakeholders and the AAC Volunteer Network to build in-house and collaborative community programs that support the AAC mission. Onsite lodging is provided by the American Alpine Club and is required for the duration of the season.
Supervisor Responsibilities

Assist the Lodging Director in hiring and training seasonal staff and returning staff
Manage onsite staff
Participate in staff performance reviews
Assist the Lodging Director in building processes, including onboarding, standard operating procedures, and maintenance tracking to inform the budget
Ensure rules and regulations are clearly visible to all guests and staff
Be present during all inspections at the ranch and communicate effectively to satisfy any questions that may arise
Communicate updates and events to lodging staff as it relates to the AAC and its programs
Communicate with organizations and event partners effectively
Respond to guest or audience comments, messages, and emails directly in a timely manner

Financial Responsibilities

Daily accounting and monthly deposits and inventory
Expense and reimbursement tracking
Manage to the Hueco Rock Ranch budget

Guest Services & Ranch Operations

Daily monitoring of the Rock Ranch’s email account
Monitor the online reservation system
Collect fees
Record all transactions on a daily basis
Manage guest concerns and conflicts
Provide ranch, regional, and AAC information to guests as well as its target audience as it relates to the Hueco Rock Ranch and the AAC’s Lodging Department

Maintenance and Housekeeping

Monitor the plumbing systems and electrical systems for issues; have basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and groundskeeping skills
Oversee and assist in the daily cleaning of the barn and residence
Keep the ranch and facilities free of trash and other debris
Purchase materials as necessary for maintenance and repairs

Public Relations & Marketing

Network, develop, and maintain positive working relationships with local and regional outdoor organizations and AAC staff and volunteers to create educational and community-orientated events and programs
Collaborate with Marketing to promote the AAC and the El Paso facility on Instagram and Facebook, as well as maintain the HRR webpage
Work with the Lodging Director to collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure fundraising and communications support for facility repairs and program initiatives.
Promote and sell merchandise

Have experience with management, events, marketing, and guest or client services
Have a solution-based approach and attention to detail
Have experience record keeping
Are able to work independently and in collaboration with a team
Are competent with Google Suites
Are creative and eager to learn and grow new skills
Are at least 21 years of age
Preferred: have 1-2 years of social media or content development experience
Preferred: First Aid training

Environment
65% Desk work – Typical office work on a computer utilizing GSuites, Slack, Zoom, and other computer-based programs.
35% Physical work – This position requires some physical work, including assisting with receiving and distributing inventory, room turnover, facility maintenance and cleaning, setting up and breaking down events, etc.
