Job Description
This position will support the Technical Grower in performing numerous tasks related to growing substrate crops (Irrigation management, lysimeter tracking, fertilizer mixing, material ordering, monitoring overall plant health, etc.)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Walk test plots regularly to scout for crop issues and coordinate with the Technical Grower and Supervisors to implement pest control, irrigation and plant nutrition.
- Make daily irrigation adjustments based on lysimeter data and with guidance of Technical Grower.
- Monitor and assist in checking overall plant health.
- Check irrigation lines and plants multiple times a day to ensure proper irrigation.
- Monitor and maintain lysimeter stations. Log data and email on a daily basis.
- Ensure injection system and computer are in working order.
- Monitor fertilizer and acid tanks levels.
- Accurately mix fertilizers and maintain nutrient inventory.
- Routinely clean filters for irrigation systems.
- Schedule and coordinate the maintenance of ranch as needed.
- Assist the Research Associate with oversight and execution during special project design, installation, and daily/weekly management of such projects.
- Maintains a safe and professional work environment by complying with all Driscoll’s policies and trainings in pesticide application, irrigation, safety, etc.
- Ensures the security of all Driscoll’s proprietary and confidential information.
- Performs other duties as assigned, related to agricultural operations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work well with supervisors and employees at a ranch level.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be punctual and arrive to work at the scheduled hour.
- Ability to work weekends consistently.
- Must be comfortable working with vendors and ordering fertilizers, pesticides etc.
- Must be able to work in a field setting that requires being in a standing position for an extended period of time with frequent bending.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
- Plant health and growing experience preferred.
- Adheres to company values and mission.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have valid Driver License.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
