The Livestock Caretaker contributes to our mission by providing care for pigs, producing a quality meat product right in our rural community that feeds the world.

As a Livestock Caretaker, a typical day may include the following:

  • Shipping and receiving animals
  • Treating animals
  • Heat checking and breeding sows and gilts
  • Assisting with the birthing process of sows and gilts
  • Caring for piglets and ensuring they are off to a good start
  • Moving animals with a sorting board
  • Cleaning facilities including power-washing
  • Keeping detailed, accurate records that comply with Holden Farms
  • Ensuring all animals are receiving proper feed, water, and ventilation
  • Understand and follow WFR’s biosecurity protocol, must shower in and out of the

facility

This job might be for you if:

  • You are available to work every weekend, both Saturday and Sunday
  • You put animal welfare at the forefront, making sure all animals are well taken care of
    • You like to be physically active and can be on feet for the majority of your workday
    • You are punctual and dependable
    • You communicate well both written and verbally
    • You are able to work on a diverse team of 5 to 16 people
