Position Information
The Ramadugu Lab is seeking a Full Time Nursery Technician to work in the citrus breeding program at the University of California Riverside, Department of Botany and Plant Sciences. The goal of the program is to generate citrus huanglongbing-resistant novel citrus hybrids, maintain the breeding population in a regulated, APHIS-certified greenhouse, and maintain the experimental trees in the UCR fields. The successful candidate will know plant and horticultural care, especially of citrus.
The full salary range for the Nursery Technician position is $19.24 – $26.92 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $19.24 – $22.11 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations; two years of training and experience in nursery techniques; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Knowledge of plant and horticultural care.
Ability to lift approximately 40 pounds.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with team members.
Knowledge of irrigation requirements and plant propagation methods.
Ability to work in the greenhouse/field in inclement weather, eg. hot humid conditions under 95 F, cold damp foggy conditions and windy weather. They must also be able to work routinely in the greenhouse when the temperatures exceed 90 F (but under 95 V) for several hours., given appropriate breaks and water.
Ability to record data accurately on paper or handheld devices
Ability to work for 8 hours
