The Pineland Farms Produce Division is a for-profit branch of Pineland Farms, Inc. A large, conventional farm that consists of a few key full-time folks and a boon of seasonal help.
As an employee at the Pineland Farms Produce division, a farmer is an integral part of our operation. Work consists of equipment operation: working the land, tending and harvesting crops as well as hands-on irrigation work and minor equipment repairs.
Our growing season starts in March as we prep the ground for plantings. In May we shift gears to prep irrigation and frost control. June-October consist of harvest, planting, cultivation and continued irrigation. In November we start to shift gears to start assembling our “winter repair” list before we start applying the winter straw cover to our 30 acres of strawberries. January-April we work on all the farm equipment, inventory and revamp supplies.
Starting in June we begin our days at 6am and do our best to wrap everything up by 4pm. We also do our best to make sure our full-time staff are getting days off throughout the growing season while keeping operations running 7days/week. After Labor Day we shut the farm down on Sundays. In November we cut our working days back to Monday-Friday with a 7am start time.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Tractor Work.
- Irrigation Support.
- Minor mechanic work.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Weekend availability during harvesting season is required.
- Week days only during the winter months.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Salary & Benefits:
- Starting wage of $20/hour- room for increase with experience, proven ability, and capacity.
