Job Description

As the Ranch Assistant, you will assist the Ranch Manager/Ranch Supervisor implement the diversified operational plan consistent with the Choctaw Nation Agriculture Department’s overarching mission and strategic plan. You will report to the Ranch Manager.

Primary Tasks:

  • You will provide supplemental feed, mineral and water to all livestock.
  • Assist with herd health, routine processing, calf pairing and transport activities.
  • Identify unhealthy animals, when needed, administer approved treatment program.
  • Monitor forage availability and assist grazing management/utilization efforts.
  • Perform routine (ex. chemical, mechanical and prescribed fire) pasture maintenance.
  • Provide property upkeep including fence repair/construction, mowing, trimming, litter removal, and painting) and security.
  • Operate farm equipment including tractor, skid steer, chute, and vehicles, safely and respectfully.
  • Maintain and review equipment logs, providing general maintenance when needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience or knowledge of fence construction/repair, basic plumbing, excavation, road maintenance, brush control, hay and pasture management.)
  • Can safely perform all responsibilities as assigned
  • Knowledge of livestock care, stockmanship, and husbandry
