Responsible for the functions and operational tasks related to managing the ranch, including livestock, wildlife, equipment and facilities.
Job Duties
- The role of Freeman Center Ranch Foreman is critical to the smooth operation of our fully functioning 3,500-acre teaching and research ranch. The foreman position requires a seasoned professional possessing a wealth of experience in wide ranging fields and a meticulous attention to detail, capable of coordinating the multifaceted responsibilities integral in ranch management.
- This position works closely with our academic faculty and researchers to forge strong partnerships with academic faculty and researchers to seamlessly integrate teaching and research initiatives within the working ranch.
- Assumes a leadership role in managing of the day-to-day operations of livestock management, ensuring optimal care, and thorough attention to health and husbandry practices.
- Job duties include guiding and teaching student workers, teaching them to learn the day-to-day operations of working on a full functioning ranch.
- Other responsibilities incorporate the supervising of physical infrastructure of the ranch, which includes the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, water wells, access roads, fencing, all equipment, and other various parts of the infrastructure. Their diligence and initiative-taking approach to maintenance serve as defenses against potential operational disruptions, ensuring the smooth functioning of critical ranch infrastructure.
- Emergencies are a part of ranching. Must also be able to recover from these emergencies whether it’s a natural disaster or a sick animal. Leadership and knowledge will be crucial to keeping everyone safe and the ranch running smoothly.
- Manage the ecological stewardship, promote biodiversity and conservation within the ranch’s rangeland. This will be accomplished through pasture restoration projects and the careful monitoring of wildlife populations.

Additional Information to Applicants
Regular work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for nights and weekends, as necessary. This position requires you to be on call 24/7.
